The congress will take place mainly at the Leioa Campus of the University of the Basque Country, where the Facultad de Ciencia y Tecnología (ZTF-FCT) [College of Science and Technology] of the University of the Basque Country will host the majority of the program and the Garai Canteen will provide the meals of the congress. However, Monday morning as well as the open-to-the-public science popularization activity will take place at the Bizkaia Aretoa, in Bilbao. Other activities, such as the social banquet, will take place outside the university. More details regarding them will be given throughout 2024.
Situated in the center of Bilbao (Abandoibarra Etorbidea 3), the Bizkaia Aretoa is the most emblematic building of the University of the Basque Country regarding the organization of social, cultural, academic and scientific events, either ßorganized by the university itself or external entities. Because of this, Monday morning, the congress will begin at the Bizkaia Aretoa. Afterwards, the congress will move for Monday afternoon and the rest of the days to the Leioa Campus, with the exception of Wednesday when the congress will take place at the Bizkaia Aretoa again.

All the activities of the congress will take place in the ground floor of the Bizkaia Aretoa: registration and the coffee break will take place at reception, while the opening, the plenary talks and round table of Monday and Wednesday morning will take place at the Mitxelena Auditorium, which is easily accessible from the reception of the building. After the last morning plenary talk on Monday, the congress will move by bus to the Leioa Campus for continuing there the rest of the congress.
Situated in the surroundings of Bilbao, the Leioa Campus is the insignia campus of the University of the Basque Country regarding arts and sciences. Inside this, it will the Facultad de Ciencia y Tecnología [College of Science and Technology] the one hosting the congress in its majority, with the only excepcitons of Monday morning and Wednesday. For facilitating the attendance of the participants and not saturating public transit, we will offer a bus service (of which we give the information at the end of this page). For arriving on your own to the campus, consult the page about public transit in Bilbao or, in case a car was used to travel to the conference, use this to travel back and forth to the campus.
In the Leioa campus map below, we can see the Facultad de Ciencia y Tecnología (ZTF-FCT) [College of Science and Technology] of the University of the Basque Country colored in cyan, the Great Hall of the UPV/EHU colored in magenta and the parking spaces for the general public in yellow—with a black ‘P’ over them. One can easily walk between all these points and the campus is adapted for those people with reduced mobility.
Pushing the buttons below, you can download the two Leioa campus maps: the simplified one shown on this page (in high resolution) and the detailed official map with all the legends.
The plenary talks and the rounf tables (excepth Monday and Wednesday morning) with take place at the Great Hall of the University of the Basque Country. Additionally, in tis foyer, the posters, lunches and the coffee breaks of Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning will take place.
Located in a central position inside the Leioa campus, the Facultad de Ciencia y Tecnología (ZTF-FCT) [College of Science and Technology] of the University of the Basque Country will be the primary hosting place of the congress, where all parallel sessions will take place.
Note: Although the official translation of “Facultad de Ciencia y Tecnología” is “Faculty of Science and Technology”, we use the translation “College of Science and Technology” since this is better to refer to the university building/institution. The words “facultad” and “faculty” are false friends—the Spanish word usually refers to a university building/institution, while the English word refers exclusively to the body of academicians in that building/institution.
The paraninfo [auditorium] of the ZTF-FCT will host some of the congress' events, such as the postdocotral session of the RMT of Work.
The Grand Salle of the ZTF-FCT will host the afternoon coffee breaks.
The ZTF-FCT has 56 rooms for teaching. All of these rooms count with a computer, a projector and a blackboard. The parallel sessions will take place in these rooms. The parallel sessions will be in the following classrooms: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.12, 0.13, 0.15, 0.16, 0.17, 0.18, 0.19, 0.19S, 0.20, 0.20S, 0.27, 1.12, and 1.4.
In the numeration, the first number indicates the follor and the second the number of the room in the respective floor. Note that 0 refers to the ground floor, while 1 to the floor above the ground floor. It is important to take into account that room and teaching labs shared the same style of numeration. Because of this, one should be careful not to confuse "Aula/Gela X.Y" with "Laboratorio Docente/Irakaskuntza Laborategia X.Y".
This topological map shows the approximate location of the classroom in the building of the ZTF-FCT.
To give a reference, the following three images show the three acess points to the ZTF-FCT.
For not saturating public transit and facilitating attendance to participants, we will provide a bus service between the city of Bilbao and the Leioa campus of the University of the Basque Country. However, those who want to go on their own to the campus can use public transit. For finding information about the possible option, check the page about the public transit in Bilbao.
On Monday, buses will start departing from 12:30, after the plenary talk in the Bizkaia Aretoa, towards the Leioa Campus as they get full. The departure point is the Avenida Abandoibarra, in the tunnel under the entrance to the Guggenheim Museum (see map).
On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, there will be three bus routes to reach the Leioa Campus. The stops will be the same as those from the bus public service Bizkaibus that goes to the Leioa Campus of the UPV/EHU to guarantee that people have a plan B to go to campus.

In all cases, we will try that buses depart when they are with a 50% of their capacity. However, in the improbable case that someone has not the possibility of using the return bus we provide, we remind that the campus is well-connected with the city of Bilbao.
