Public Transit

Bilbao has a comprehensive network of public transit composed of different transportation means that integrate the Consorcio de Transportes de Bizkaia [Bizkaia Transit Consortium]: Bizkaibus, Bilbobus, Euskotren Tranbia, Bilbao Metro, etc. Moreover, it is possible to buy a public transit card, the barik card, which can be loaded with money to make payments while using public transit. Additionally, Bilbao has the possibility of transportation by taxi.

However, to not saturate public transport and facilitate participants' attendance, we will organize a bus service between Bilbao and the Leioa campus of the University of the Basque Country. More information regarding this bus service can be found on the page about the venue.

Barik CardMore about Barik

The Barik cart is a reloadable contactless card with which one can pay for public transit in Bilbao and its metropolitan area. This card gives discounted fares when using public transit, and up to 10 people can use the same card (in the case of non-personalized cards). The card costs 3 € and requires a minimum load of 5 €.

Leioa Metro Stop

For going to the Leioa campus, the Leioa metro stop is not recommendable. This stop is more than 40 minutes away on foot from the campus. The Bizkaibus line A2322 between Bilbao and the Leioa campus stops near that metro stop—although it is closer to the Astrabudua metro stop—when it stops at Etxegorri and Mezo 35 (Juanena). However, although this bus trip takes only 25 minutes—to which we must add the 15 minutes of the metro trip—, the bus only passes once every hour.

Taxi

Bilbao has a taxi service that one can take from several city points. For those who want it, booking a trip or requesting a cab in a concrete location through TeleTaxi Bilbao and RadioTaxi Bilbao.
